Is it blasphemy to say In-N-Out is a religious experience?

According to this article on Buzzfeed, In-N-Out is a religious experience.

27 Reasons In-N-Out Is Actually Heaven On Earth

This must be the “Cheeseburger in Paradise” Jimmy Buffett was singing about.

1. First of all, the burgers, which are handmade by angels.

2. Also, the heavenly, freshly cut-to-order, divine fries.

3. When the burger and fries come together on a tray, you can hear a choir of angels singing in the distance.

But like the article says, “If you’re not in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, or Texas, you’re out of luck.”

Hmmm… I wonder where I’m going to take my summer vacation this year? Hint: Probably somewhere with In-N-Out.

Great milkshakes at Z-Burger, but not so good onion rings

I was feeling “blah” and totally bored (Dog Days of Summer?) so Dad drove me down to White Marsh and we went to Z-Burger.

Z-Burger is like a Five Guys or a Gino’s or a In-N-Out. I think Z-Burger is a local chain (DC-Batimore area) with just a few restaurants. But it’s kinda the same as the others.

Dad says these places are still “fast food” but a little bit fancier and with slightly better ingredients. Then he usually complains about how much they cost! Hey, Dad… thats why I let YOU pay 🙂

I ordered a single cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato. Side order of half fries, half onion rings. And a strawberry milk shake.

The burger was OK. Not great. Not awful. Just average. I would award it a score of 5.5 out of 10.

The fries were good. They were nice and crispy. The onion rings… yuck… not so good! They had too much batter. I threw most of them away because they were really not good to eat.

The milkshake was made with ice cream and this is something that Z-Burger does really well. We sometime stop here just to get milkshakes. You might have to wait a long time on a hot day, but they are GOOD!

I would recommend Z-Burger if you are shopping in the White Marsh area. The burgers are OK. But don’t get the onion rings.

What is your favorite fast food restaurant?

What is your favorite fast food restaurant? I like Five Guys, Sonic, and our local (Maryland area) Ginos.

Best Bargain Burgers

According to this survey the best bargain burgers are ones that you can buy for cents per ounce.

The patties in a Big Mac are 55 cents per ounce.

The Hot n’ Juicy from Wendy’s is 43 cents per ounce.

The Whopper is 38 cents per ounce.

A cheeseburger from Five Guys is 56 cents per ounce.

A cheeseburger from In N Out is 27 cents per ounce.

Juicy Jake’s Junior

After math camp today, Dad drove me up to Jake’s Wayback Burgers in Elkton, MD for lunch.

I had a “Junior” which is a single burger patty. You can also get a “Jake” (2 patties), a “Big Jake” (3 patties), and you can get turkey burgers or veggie burgers instead of beef.

Options for non-burger eaters (WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?) include chicken, hot dogs, grilled cheese, and salad. Check out their menu for details.

Because Jake’s served a single, a double, and a triple, Dad wondered if there was a “secret menu” like at In-N-Out Burger where you can add extra patties. Nice idea, Dad, but I don’t think Mom would appreciate you eating a 4×4.

Dad is on a diet. He is only supposed to eat burgers occasionally and he is only supposed to eat the smallest burger with the most salad toppings. Today I can report he had a small burger, no cheese, no sauces, no fries, no milkshake, and a liter of water. It sucks to be him.

I am not on a diet. I had the Junior, fries, and a strawberry shake. It rocks to be me!

Here is a photo of the burger patty. It is everything a burger patty should be. It is made from fresh beef (never frozen! no pink slime!), it is juicy without being fatty, it is cooked to order, and it is flattened out to fit the bun.

I did not have cheese or bacon today, because I wanted to taste the beef. It had a great flavor and was not covered in salt or “grillin’ spices” or weird sauces. You can get some crazy toppings (chili, fried egg) and that could be fun, but today I just wanted a pure burger.

I award this burger a score of 8 out of 10.

If there is a Jake’s near you then I suggest you visit.
